1921-1926 Monte Westmore Rudolph Valentino’s Make-up Artist

Monte Westmore was a famous Hollywood make-up artist, the eldest of six sons of George Westmore. Monte was Rudolph Valentino’s Valet then he became his make-up artist. In 1921, he worked with his father, George, on the silent film “The Sheik”.  His father had created Valentino’s look, but it was his son Monte who convinced actor Rudolph Valentino to let him do his makeup. Monte recreated the clean Latin look that had Valentino’s legions of fans swooning. He was Valentino’s makeup artist until the actor’s untimely death from peritonitis at the age of 31 in 1926.
